What this can and cannot know
- The prefix is a registration, not a passport. A company registers with one GS1 member organisation and manufactures anywhere it likes.
- The company/product boundary is unpublished. GS1 issues company prefixes of varying length and does not release the lengths, so no tool can say where the company number ends and the item number begins.
- Origin comes from the manufacturer or from nobody. Where a declared origin is shown here it came from Open Food Facts, contributed from the packaging. Most products declare nothing, and this says so rather than guessing.
Prefix ranges from the published GS1 table. Product data from Open Food Facts, ODbL. No account, no key, no server — every lookup happens in this tab.
